ARE YOU SELFISH (ENOUGH)?

It’s so important to take good care of your body, mind, and soul daily. Learning how to eat right, reduce stress, exercise regularly, and take time-out can help you stay healthy, happy, and resilient.

Practicing self-care isn’t always easy. Most of us are crazy busy, have stressful jobs, or are too consumed with technology to make time for ourselves. Me-time even comes off as ego-centric and selfish.

What is self-care?

Self-care describes a conscious act one takes in order to promote their own physical, mental, and emotional health. There are many forms self-care may take. It could be ensuring you get enough sleep every night or stepping outside for a few minutes for some fresh air.

self care

Let’s focus on physical self-care that includes caring and pampering your body!

I’m gonna share with you some of my favourite very easy-breazy low waste DIY body care recipes to take care of your self!

Body oil 100ml

You need:

  • 50 ml thistle oil
  • 30 ml rice bran oil
  • 20 ml fractionated coconut oil
  • 10 drops of your favourite essential oil(s)

Mix everything in a pump or dropper bottle. Use it after shower or bath on a slightly damp skin. This oil is very light and will absorb beautifully locking the moisture in.

Coffee scrub

You need:

  • Used coffee grounds from filter or french press
  • Coconut oil

Dry out the coffee in the oven on low heat or leave out in the sunny windowsill. Mix a good amount of coconut oil with dried coffee. Exfoliate your entire body in sauna!

TIP! Coffee might be too harsh for facial use!

Facial mask

  • 2 tbsp of some clay (white and pink for sensitive, mature and dry skin, green is best for oily and combination skin)
  • 2 tbsp any hydrosol or pure water

Mix the ingredients and apply on clean face. This clay mask will help to draw out dirt and excess sebum. Depending on your skin needs, use it 1-2x a week.

Happy self-care!
